SEO for
Localization Projects

guide cover

SEO for localization projects means making sure your localized project reaches its maximum brand awareness potential online. The goal of search engine optimization, or SEO, is to optimize relevance on keywords in order to increase web ranking on search engines like Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo. When localizing these keywords, it is important to maintain that relevance value in the target language.

The goal of SEO and its localization should be to obtain long-tail keywords since they target a much larger amount of less competitive keywords that tend to be extremely relevant to the business objectives. It is very likely that individually there may not be a large search volume on each term, but they will match perfectly in relevance when a user is seeking them.

High volume search terms are usually difficult to rank for. An example is ‘translation company’. There will be an endless list of results if this term is entered in a search engine. It would be challenging for a translation company to make good use of this term on their website since it will be difficult to rank due to the competition.
