Trados

Trados is one of the earliest CAT tools in the industry to take advantage of translation memory for improved translation consistency, efficiency and reduced translation cost. It is one of the most popular computer aided translation software used by language service providers as well as professional translators around the world. Trados was acquired by SDL in 2005 and has since introduced features to support SDLX’s IDT format and other translation features.

Trados became successful because of its ease of use and close integration with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. In addition to powerful TM support that ensures the same sentence will never have to be translated twice, Trados also delivers advanced terminology management by allowing the translator to look up terminologies automatically over multiple glossaries. Trados allows translators to work more productively while achieving higher overall linguistic quality.
